And this is where disabilities and intersectionality really come into play. What if she had a chronic pain issue ? Or was in my situation? I had massive facial reconstruction surgery due to a birth defect that had become life threatening 7 years ago, and developed permanent RBF as a result. I was advised by someone who should have been a mentor once that I needed more plastic surgery to “fix that” if I wanted to move into the C-suite. Crossed her (yes HER) off my potential mentor list.
